e-Patient Connections: Selling Better Health

SYNOPSIS:

A health care revolution is underway, but it's not being driven by a breakthrough drug or policies coming out of Washington, DC. It's being led by empowered patients who are seeking information, sharing data, and selecting their own treatments more than ever before. At the
e-Patient Connections conference, a diverse community of health communicators and marketers gathered to explore innovative ways to reach and engage today's digital health consumers.

PRODUCER'S COMMENTARY:

We filmed this mini-documentary about the inaugural e-Patient Connections Conference in October of 2009. The interviews and b-roll were captured in 1080i XDCAM EX by world-class DP, Sonja Stark, of PilotGirl Productions using a Sony EX3. While I was able to edit 75% of the story using her HD footage I did have to rely on some standard defintion DVCAM footage of the presenters that was recorded by the con's AV crew (led by producer Ken Ryzner). In post, I used Boris FX to upres these shots to more closely match the HD. All of the speaker audio was also taken from the DVCAM tapes which were patched directly from the presenters' microphones. The still photos used in the piece were taken by Matt Hencheck. The narrator is talented actress, Carol Anne Raffa.
